Our events are delivered online, hybrid and in-person in the downtown Vancouver area. Types of events range from panels and speakers to workshops and educational sessions along with our larger annual IP Forum, Demo Day and NVBC Awards Ceremony.

You will take the lead on overseeing all aspects of the logistics of the events as well as sponsor relations, and managing event communications. Your role will also include fulfilling sponsor commitments and maintaining relationships with potential, current and previous sponsors to inform them about upcoming opportunities. You will be fully supported on program design elements of the events as we have a robust and active community to draw from for speakers and panelists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate online, hybrid and in-person events, ensuring seamless experiences for all participants.
  • Collaborate with our internal team, volunteers as well as 3rd party vendors to ensure a smooth day of execution.
  • Monitor and ensure fulfillment of sponsor commitments across events, maintaining strong relationships.
  • Proactively seek out and engage new sponsors when opportunities arise, working with the partnership contract person to formalize new relationships.
  • Take lead to prepare and manage all event communications, ensuring clear and engaging messaging for different stakeholders and participants.
  • Create all related event tools, including event registration pages and promotion kits.
  • Working with our program and marketing coordinators to effectively promote events across various channels, including social media, email lists, and partner platforms.
  • Support program promotion efforts, including calls for applications for NVBC programs and events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align event strategy with organizational goals.
  • Liaise with sponsors, partners, participants, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful event execution and positive outcomes for all involved.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in event planning and coordination for online, hybrid and in-person settings of different scales.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience managing sponsor relationships, including the fulfillment of commitments and securing new sponsorships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor messaging for different stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in event marketing, including social media, email campaigns, and content creation.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Interested in being part of a small team and being capable of (and excited about) wearing many hats.

Compensation and work culture:

  • Full time, 35-hour work week with half-day Fridays
  • 75-80K per year based on experience, this salary is inclusive of pay in lieu of benefits.
  • We offer three weeks of vacation plus a closure between Christmas and New Years.
  • This is a contract position, currently funded until Feb 28 2026, with the potential for extension, subject to funding availability.
  • Due to the nature of events, some evening and weekend work will be required and will be compensated with time off in lieu.
  • While we expect this role to work independently, we will provide on-going support to ensure success.
  • You’ll get to be an integral part of a fun, collaborative and cooperative team.
  • You have the opportunity to work for an impact-driven organization that contributes to supporting the growth of early-stage tech companies
