Consistency is the Key

Loba is a Vancouver-based startup that’s improving health and wellness by modernizing traditional pill and supplement management. Unlike standard pill organizers, Loba offers a tech-powered platform that addresses the industry’s biggest pain points, including missed doses, complex supplement regimens, and lack of user engagement.

Their smart supplement organizer and mobile app help users manage schedules, add pills, set reminders, and track habits. Their user-centric and innovative approach ensures consistent supplement and medication intake, which is vital for addressing health challenges. By fostering self-motivation and accountability, Loba is improving compliance and health outcomes — creating a significant impact in personal health management.

A User First Experience

Loba’s Smart Pill & Supplement Organizer integrates seamlessly with the Loba App, creating an easy user experience and improving health management. The organizer– which is stylishly designed for any space — connects via Wi-Fi to the app, where users set reminders for their pill schedules. When it’s time to take a pill, Loba’s LEDs light up in a chosen colour, providing a visual cue that responds to user action.

The Loba App, which is available in a freemium model, is accessible with or without the device. In addition to setting schedules and tracking intake, the app also offers features like history tracking and rewards for streaks and healthy habits through badges and achievements. Apps like Loba’s are crucial for improving pill intake, as they provide structure and accountability for users, ultimately leading to long-term healthy habits.

Early Wins and Future Gains

Loba’s CEO and Founder, Kate Bouchard, knows she’s playing the long game with her startup. And the success she’s already achieved in the short term has validated her company’s mission and laid the groundwork for rapid growth over the next few years.

Earlier this year, out of thousands of companies across Canada, Loba received a coveted spot in DMZ’s Incubator and was selected for funding from both DMZ and Mastercard. Additionally, the startup nearly sold out its first run of inventory, has over 2,000 app users — many of whom are paying monthly for services — and logged over 600,000 pills via the app.

Last year, Loba advanced to Round 2.5 of the NVBC Competition, pitching for a spot in the Top 25. Since then, the healthtech startup has evolved in both traction and strategy. Now that Loba has been in-market and revenue-generating through D2C for over a year, their focus is on developing B2B solutions while continuing to enhance in-app features to support user wellness. The company’s roadmap includes expanding its offerings to health practitioners and industry professionals, aiming for broader impact and scalability. Loba is committed to leveraging its success and feedback to innovate and grow, ensuring continued support for its customers on their health and wellness journeys.

Their considerable progress over the last year and B2B-focused roadmap impressed the NVBC judges and earned the female-founded company a spot in Round 3 of this year’s competition.
