Some students play on intramural teams, others join language clubs. In his spare time, UBC entrepreneurship student Elliot Mashford, President and Co-founder of Eagle Energy, investigates trends in the market, searching for untapped opportunities.
Knowing that vapor products are available in a variety of flavours, he noticed that none offered the benefit of an energy boost. After approaching a chemist and a branding agent, he developed Eagle Energy: a disposable vaporizer that contains guarana extract, a natural form of caffeine. Intended to compete with other energy drinks, Eagle Energy was the first inhalant created to deliver an energy boost, a process that allows the product to enter the system more quickly. Eight months after the ideas conception, Eagle Energy is now available in over four hundred retail outlets across North America and online. In 2014, the industry was valued at $23B worldwide.
