UK Trade & Investment announced last week that it will be sending four Canadian technology startups to the UK.
Sponsored by AIMIA and the C100, the UKTI-ran competition received 72 entries from across Canada, surpassing last year’s response. This year, UKTI selected Vancouver’s FundRazr, Winnipeg’s Joist, Ottawa’s Gnowit and Montreal’s BusBud.
FundRazr won the Vancity Social Venture prize in 2011.
The winners will each experience “a tailor-made business trip to the UK, including the opportunity to meet potential and existing clients, explore new market opportunities, engage with investors, and plan their international expansion,” according to the UKTI.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting some of our amazing UK customers in person and starting the process of setting up our presence in London,” says FundRazr CEO Daryl Hatton. “Nothing strengthens a business relationship better than meeting face-to-face.”
