2011 BCIC-New Ventures competitor Conquer Mobile received some great coverage in the Vancouver Sun yesterday.
Sun reporter Scott Simpson recounts Conquer’s history since being founded four years ago and it’s been quite a ride.
Conquer was founded in 2007 and hit the ground running, developing for Canpages the first speech recognition business search app in Canada, and one of the first mobile device apps in Canada, period.
Recent clients include Chicwalks, which sells 99-cent shopping guides for Vancouver, San Francisco and Paris via Apple’s App Store, and McDonald’s, which has a free app that enables mobile users to find their nearest burger outlet anywhere in Canada.
Along the way Conquer Mobile has been a bit of a poster child when it comes to leveraging BC’s entrepreneurial support ecosystem.
In addition to participating in the BCIC-New Ventures Competition, Conquer Mobile was the first to move in when the non-profit Wavefront wireless commercialization centre opened in downtown Vancouver in 2009.
Most recently, Conquer Mobile was one of eight early stage technology companies that in December won a contest sponsored by Discovery Parks and the City of Vancouver, and was awarded a year’s free office space at Discovery’s building on Great Northern Way.
We’ll likely be hearing more from Conquer Mobile in 2011.
